Work is under way at Leeds University – Worsley Building (ongoing)

Blue Wire are well under way with mechanical and electrical works in association with Fire Management works. Working alongside the main contractor to improve fire safety throughout the selected areas Blue Wire are working around the clock to ensure essential M & E works are carried out to the highest possible standards. The following works are being carried out:

Scope of works: (Mechanical)

• Replacement of existing manual dampers to units with automatic actuators which operate in the event of a fire.
  • Re configure existing ducting to suit newly formed rooms.
  • Production of drawings
  • Commissioning and testing

Scope of works: (Electrical)

• Fire alarm additional detectors and call points
• Fire alarm works to link new dampers with existing fire alarm
• Hold open devices installation to new fire doors
• New LED recessed lighting to Library.
• LED automatic lighting controls

• New Distribution boards to riser cupboards
• Emergency lighting to open space & escape routes

Project – Oakwell House, Barnsley

Completion Date – October 2018

Mechanical & Electrical Works

Full M & E works carried out at Oakwell house, Barnsley to bring the unoccupied building back up to current standards ready for a new lease. Blue Wire have been appointed to ensure existing Gas & Electrical services are serviced and commissioned ready for use by a new tenant. Oakwell House comprises of a two storey building built in 1980 and offers 9,079 sq ft accommodation with HVAC throughout.

Scope Of Works: (Mechanical & Plumbing):

• Carry out full validation report and issue F – Gas certification
  • Removal of redundant split DX systems where not required
  • Legionella report
  • Fully service boiler, calorifier and pumps including issue of gas safety certificate
  • Fully clean ductwork in accordance with HVAC TR19 and issue report.
  • Commission main control panel for heating HVAC system
  • General plumbing works to toilet/shower areas
  • Operation & Maintenance Manuals
  • Sanitaryware

Scope Of Work: (Electrical Services)

• Provide sub metering for split areas
  • Full EICR (Electrical Installation Condition Report) on existing installation
  • Modify small power & lighting to suit new layout
  • Replace lighting luminaires throughout
  • Fire Alarm works/modifications

Location: Whitehall, Leeds

Overview: Lighting overhaul in a restaurant based on a unique scaffolding design.

Bluewire started working with restaurant The Roast in 2014. We were contacted by the owner who wanted to modernise the lighting within the restaurant, all without downtime and without any detrimental effects to customers. Bluewire took the job on and worked through the night to overhaul existing lighting in order to avoid restaurant downtime. The job took a night’s work and required communication with a number of other businesses and tradesmen to ensure that the job was finished to the highest quality.

• Installed ‘scaffolding’ style lighting throughout the restaurant as per drawings;
• We worked through the night to avoid restaurant downtime;
• We worked alongside joiners and helped them to install timber frames above ceiling.

This job was managed by Bluewire and lighting was installed throughout the restaurant as per the drawings given to us. The Roast had a very clear idea about what they wanted to achieve with the new lighting and Bluewire strived to achieve this.

The end result was a lighting installation that was safe, looked stunning, and most importantly of all was exactly what The Roast had wanted. The job took some planning, however we managed to install the lighting in a single night which ensured that the restaurant experienced no downtime at all and we worked with other trades to ensure a high quality job.
